Blessed Are Those Who Mourn

Most of us avoid sorrow and only engage in mourning when it is forced upon us. But mourning as Jesus described it in the Beatitudes is not a temporary grief but the sorrow that emerges in our lives when we realize our alienation from God—and there is a blessing attached to it. When we realize our brokenness and our helplessness apart from Christ, we are eager to fall on our knees before Him and seek His forgiveness, His healing, and His blessings.
