Sam and Will discuss how the Common School movement enabled the government to take control of education in America. Horace Mann, the father of this movement, assured the states that the government would not exploit classrooms for political purposes. Instead, he promised that public schools would result in excellent academics and widespread biblical instruction. None of these promises were kept.
