Why did Abinadi bother to speak to King Noah?  

Was there a chance that Noah was going to really change? 

Not much.  

Actually, probably not at all.

But there was one guy, a guy who had lived a really rotten life up to this point, but whose heart was still not QUITE completely hard.  

His name was Alma.
