May 20- Doctrine & Covenants 54

In this section the. Lord talks about the seriousness of breaking covenants. The language used sounds super harsh. But I think it only sounds harsh when we don't understand the purpose of a covenant. Through covenants Heavenly Father is inviting us to have a special relationship with Him. He asks us for change as we live certain laws and He blesses us for our obedience. He isn't trying to bind us or remove our agency, that would be a contract. As a father who wants more than anything to bless His children, I would imagine it is devastating for Him when we don't live His laws and He can't pour out His blessings
