Meekness is a word we see tied to gentleness in the scriptures, and commonly misunderstood. Even as you read it, meekness brings to mind pictures of a tiny mouse shivering in the corner. In the ’90s (and still today!) it was big for women in assertiveness classes to decide that in order to not be a doormat, standing up for oneself was the way to go. In reality, meekness is restrained strength—and God offers it to you!
